Human

Human is a figurative sculpture project developed within a context of artistic experimentation and technical research into the human body and materiality. The work originates from a desire to capture physical presence directly, preserving imperfections, gestures, and textures as essential elements of sculptural expression.

The process involved an organic approach, with the direct capture of form through moulding techniques, followed by a rigorous technical procedure of materialisation and consolidation. Mão de Fogo accompanied every stage of the project, from defining the methodology to producing the moulds and selecting the most suitable materials for the intended result.

The use of alginate during the initial capture phase enabled a high level of detail, which was subsequently stabilised through silicone moulds and structural reinforcement using fibreglass and acrylic resin. This combination ensured formal accuracy, structural lightness, and technical control throughout the entire process.

This project reflects Mão de Fogo’s philosophy as a space dedicated to supporting artistic creation, where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary technical solutions, accompanying artists through stages of study, prototyping, and sculptural development.
