We are knowledgeable.

Our mission is to support artistic creation through collaboration. We enjoy working side by side with creators: listening, translating intentions, anticipating challenges and proposing technical solutions that protect the artist’s vision. Many projects begin with a simple drawing and grow through a guided and transparent process.

We are Makers

Our path began with a passion for bronze sculpture and grew through daily practice of the craft. Over nearly three decades, we have refined a method where handwork—moulds, casting, assembly and finishing—remains central, guided by meticulous attention to detail and respect for authorship.

We are a multidisciplinary team with a deep understanding of materials. We work with bronze, aluminium, brass and cast iron and, when required, stainless steel, resin and fiberglass, selecting construction solutions and finishes according to aesthetics, context and durability.

ABOUT US?

A studio where time, craft and matter come together.

OUR MISSION

Mão de Fogo is an artistic foundry and sculpture studio, equipped to produce, enlarge and restore works in bronze and other materials.

Founded in 2001 and set in a calm rural environment in Portugal, our atelier is a place of focus and thoughtful making. From here, we work with artists, architects and institutions across Europe and internationally, maintaining a close and collaborative relationship from the first sketch to final installation.

Impact of the Artistic Community

The atelier brings together several production areas: a ceramics studio, silicone mould-making, resin and fiberglass sculpture, and a metal workshop prepared for assembly, testing and quality control. This breadth gives us autonomy and consistency, even in complex projects.

Technological innovation enters as a precision tool. 3D scanning, 3D printing and CNC support prototyping, form verification and scale enlargement, ensuring fidelity when projects require repeatability, architectural integration or tight timelines—without replacing the hand and the eye.

Our experience spans public artworks, private collections, exhibitions and heritage projects. We assess feasibility, timelines and budgets carefully to avoid overruns and protect the integrity of the artistic process. Our goal is simple: to make what is complex possible, with calm and confidence.

If you have a project, a work to produce or a piece to restore, talk to us.

We are here to listen, advise and collaborate.

At Mdfgo, tradition and innovation move together to turn visions into lasting matter.
