Martin Cerezo

Martín Cerezo is a bronze sculpture representing the Spanish officer known for his resistance in the Philippines during the events that marked the end of the nineteenth century. The work was conceived by Spanish sculptor Alberto Morán, who was responsible for both the artistic concept and the original model.

Mão de Fogo was responsible for the technical execution of the bronze casting process, transforming the original model into a durable work intended for permanent installation. The production process included mould making, lost-wax casting, welding, chasing, finishing, and final patination.

As the sculpture portrays a historical figure, it was particularly important to preserve the details of the original modelling, including the clothing, military elements, and the expressive character of the figure. The finishing work enhanced the contrasts between surfaces and reinforced the sculptural presence of the piece.

This project demonstrates Mão de Fogo’s experience in the production of commemorative and figurative bronze sculpture, combining technical precision, knowledge of traditional artistic casting techniques, and respect for the artist’s vision.
