About the Project:
Mercado is a bronze sculpture by sculptor Luís Félix, created as a tribute to the identity and everyday life associated with traditional markets. The work is installed in the city of Portalegre, where it forms part of the urban landscape as an element of cultural enhancement and collective memory.
The project began at the facilities of Mão de Fogo, where the sculpture was modelled in clay under the artistic guidance of the author. This stage made it possible to develop all the volumes, expressions, and formal details that define the final composition of the work.
Following the completion and approval of the original model, Mão de Fogo carried out the technical execution of the bronze casting process using the lost-wax method. The work also included welding, chasing, finishing, and patination, ensuring a faithful reproduction of the original modelling.
The transformation of the clay model into a permanent bronze sculpture ensured the durability of the artwork in an outdoor environment while preserving the artistic character envisioned by the sculptor.
This project demonstrates Mão de Fogo’s ability to accompany every stage of sculptural production, from the initial modelling process to the final bronze execution, providing integrated solutions for public sculpture and monuments.
