Nossa Senhora do Campo

[18]

About the Project:

Nossa Senhora do Campo was a project involving the creation of a marble replica of the image of Our Lady of the Field, located near the village of Ranhados in the municipality of Mêda. The objective was to reproduce the existing sculpture with the highest possible level of formal and chromatic fidelity, preserving the characteristics of the original work.

Mão de Fogo began the project with a detailed photographic survey carried out on site, documenting the proportions, volumes, sculptural details, and polychrome elements of the existing image. This stage proved essential in ensuring the accuracy of the reproduction and served as the foundation for the production process.

The sculpture was subsequently carved in marble by sculptor Leonel Santos, who was responsible for its complete reproduction in stone. Following client approval, the image was painted, respecting the colours and finishes of the original mantle, ensuring a visual correspondence as close as possible to the reference sculpture.

In addition to the sculptural production, Mão de Fogo was also responsible for the transportation and installation of the work at the location defined by the client, overseeing every stage of the project through to completion.

This project demonstrates Mão de Fogo’s experience in the reproduction of religious sculpture, combining documentary survey work, stone carving, polychromy, and final installation.
