Rabbit Shadow, 2008

Rabbit Shadow is a sculptural project by Nuno Nunes Ferreira, based on the use of the artist’s own hands as the original formal element. The sculptures result from different hand positions which, when illuminated, project shadow figures, establishing a direct relationship between form, light, and projection.

The original sculptures were created through the direct moulding of the artist’s hands in a series of carefully defined positions, allowing for the faithful reproduction of gesture and human scale. The artistic concept and formal principles of the project are entirely the responsibility of the artist.

Mão de Fogo was responsible for the technical development of the moulding and production process, ensuring the accurate execution of the sculptures and their preparation for public exhibition. The project was specifically adapted for Arte Lisboa 2008, taking into account the characteristics of the exhibition space and the lighting design required to produce the projected shadows.

This project demonstrates Mão de Fogo’s experience in direct body moulding, sculptural production, and the technical adaptation of artworks to exhibition environments.
